THE NATIONAL CAPITAL, PAST AND PRESENT book, 1885 A lovely bound book with gold and red, this is a unique book. Stilson Hutchins and Joseph West Moore are the authors of historical objects, public building, memorial statuary and beautiful homes of the Washington DC of that era. Truly unique because this was a gift from Mrs. Amie Webster to the Stillwater Public Library in Jan 1904. Documentation inside.

SLOANS CITY AND SUBURBAN ARCHITECTURE Sloan's CITY and SUBURBAN ARCHITECTURE - Dated 1859, this CITY AND SUBURBAN ARCHITECTURE is illustrated by 136 engravings accompanied by specifications and historical and explanatory test by SAMUEL SLOAN, ARCHITECT, Author of THE MODEL ARCHITECT. This book is in normal condition, what you would expect for this age. The binding is in need of repair, but the pages are in good condition. You'll notice the wonderful engravings and cross-sections and floor plans of public edifices, private residences and mercantile building all included in this book. What makes this book SO incredibly valuable is the hand numbering on the title page...this book is 18535 and has an embossed seal of the STATE OF MINNESOTA. Also indicated on the inside title page is: Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1859, by SAMUEL SLOAN, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. This particular book ended up in the State of Minnesota, obviously. This is an extremely rare, numbered, architectural history book used by the United States government for various purposes. It measures 14x11. This is a must have for the rare book collector or a really cool addition to the architects library.
